Extra Drawing Features

TABLE OF CONTENTS

FastAdd Option

The FastAdd option is the ability to place players in the frame where you'd like them to specifically be from "1" through to "5". A left click (or tap on a touchscreen device) will place a player without the ball, while a right click (or long press on a touchscreen device) will place the player with the ball. This can be selected in the Play Editor by selecting the "5x+" button.

If you find that the FastAdd feature is most convenient for you, you can set this as your default option when beginning a new play or on any frame with no players. To do this, select File > Program Settings from the top menu and select the Drawing Options tab. Then check the checkbox next to "Automatically enter FastAdd mode when clicking on a frame with no players". You will need to select "OK" at the bottom, then close and reopen FastDraw to see the changes update.

FastMotion Option

FastMotion allows you to use a stylus, pen, or your mouse to draw the movements and actions in a frame. The cursor icon will change from the usual pointed arrow and show as a pencil icon. Below you will see the thin blue line, which shows the drawing created with the FastMotion feature, as well as the black S curve line that has been created based off the drawing. Once you click on another section of the frame, the S curve will stay as usual, while the blue trace line will be removed.

If you find that the FastMotion drawing option is more convenient for you, you can make this the default option after FastAdding players in a frame. To do this, select File > Program Settings from the top menu and select the Drawing Options tab. Then check the checkbox next to "Automatically enter FastMotion mode when finished FastAdding players". You will need to select "OK" at the bottom, then close and reopen FastDraw to see the changes update.

Stencil and Arrow Sizes

The arrowheads and lines can be adjusted to suit your preference. To change this, select File > Program Settings from the top menu and select the Drawing Options tab. Then select which size (small, medium, large) you'd like to see in the drawings. You will need to select "OK" at the bottom, then close and reopen FastDraw to see the changes update.

Mirror and Flip Frames and Plays

You can mirror a frame within a play to show how it will look on the other side of the floor. For example, a sideline play being inbounded on the left hand side can be swapped to the right. To do this, right click on the frame, select "Frame" > "Mirror Frame" > "Mirror Frame Side to Side" and it will instantly flip this for you.

Below you will see that the players are now on the opposite side of the floor and the actions have been flipped, but it's the same players making the same movements. As in this example of a sideline play, you may need to edit the court to show the out of bounds area on the opposite side to ensure your diagram fits properly.

You can also mirror or flip an entire play in one action. Simply right click on the play in the Play Library Window, then select "Mirror/Flip Current Play" > "Left-Right" and you will see the entire play flip in the Play Editor to the right.

Copy Play

You may wish to copy a play for a few reasons. You may like to make small adjustments as different reads or copy the play to another team. Simply right click on the play in the Play Library Window, then select "Copy Play To" and select which team you'd like to copy it to.

In the next window, you will be able to give the copied play a new name, or leave it as is. You can also check the box below to mirror the play to the opposite side. After you select OK, the next window will show "Play copied." - select OK there and you'll be taken to the new play.
